High-profile Sydney criminal lawyer Chris Murphy has told the Federal Court he felt like he was âdrowning in liesâ after
The Daily Telegraph published a column suggesting his age and a hearing impairment had prevented him representing clients in court.
Mr Murphy is suing the Telegraph for defamation over an October 10 column by journalist Annette Sharp in which she asserted the 72-year-old âcontinues to battle with the ravages of age and with it the associated deafness that has kept him from representing his clients in court during the past yearâ.

High-profile Sydney lawyer Adam Houda is threatening to sue the police, claiming he was illegally harassed by officers on Sunday night.
Mr Houda, an outspoken criminal defence lawyer who has represented a string of notorious clients, accused police officers of racial profiling in the incident in which he and a friend were pulled over and searched after a visit to a 7-Eleven near his home on the outskirts of south-west Sydney.

“Arrested by NSW Police tonight (seventh time) for absolutely nothing at all after attending my local 7-Eleven. I’m absolutely devastated and distressed. Flashing sirens, two police cars, four to six cops, my vehicle and body searched,” Mr Houda, 46, posted on Twitter about midnight.
