A popular restaurant on Long Beach Island was damaged in a fire this week, officials said.
The Surf City Volunteer Fire Company, with assistance from several other departments contained most of the blaze to the second floor of Scojo’s Eatery, officials said.
The majority of the building that houses the restaurant on Long Beach Boulevard in Surf City was saved, the Surf City Volunteer Fire Company said. The restaurant’s Facebook page posted a message about the fire on Thursday morning saying there were no injuries.

High Point Volunteer Fire Company is run strictly on donations and fundraisers. Because of all the fundraisers cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19, they are needing help from the community. 2021 is so uncertain because of Covid-19, also.
From their gofundme page:
High Point Volunteer Fire Company Station 51 is located on Long Beach Island. Organized in 1937 and still remain 100% volunteer, own all our apparatus, building and property. We are funded only through donations from fund raisers and a partial subsidy from the towns which we supply coverage for. Covid-19 forced them to cancel all of their fund raisers for the 2020 year, which included our Striper Shootout fishing tournament in June and their Dog Day 5 mile road race in August. Every expense for the year had to come from their savings. Their savings are running out. Now they re about to embark on 2021 and unsure if they can hold any fundraisers.
