guys? okay. let s hope she doesn t have paxlovid rebound as we know occasionally happens. that s true. kate, thank you. thanks. we re getting an update on the 8-year-old boy who was shot and severely injured in the july 4th mass shooting in high land park, illinois. cooper roberts was left paralyzed from the waist down. he is still at a rehab hospital. his family said today that while they are beyond grateful for his survival, they want people to know that cooper is in constant pain. still on heavy painkillers and is starting to recognize the severity of his limitations. of he feels hopeless, sad, and angry as the reality of his life is setting in. they add it is very hard to convince cooper that he has been happy again. that is just so heartbreaking, victor. i mean, good for the family for not sugar-coating it and for helping everybody understand the life long consequences of gun
that is just been swept through by fire because of the tremendous burn scars we ve seen left in its path. authorities saying they spent the last 24 hours going house to house, door to door, to try to see if anybody else might be unaccounted for. they said they have accounted for most people that were missing. unfortunately, yesterday, they found two more bodies two people in separate homes, in addition to the two people found over the weekend inside a car inside a driveway. authorities said they believe all of those deaths are fire related. at this point, it s still 0% contained. the fire hasn t grown much from yesterday to today. it s hovering around 56-57,000 acres. back to you. nbc s gadi schwartz, thank you so much for the report. the alleged high land park shooter entered a plea of not guilty today in a courtroom in illinois. the public arraignment lasted seven minutes.
the bipartisan safer community act includes a number of provisions outside of medicaid and the programs to benefit poor income children including $500 million to the school-based mental services grant program to increase the number of qualified mental health service providers so on and so forth. it is the point of contact that we know of in uvalde and the point of contact in high land park, illinois, that started very far very long ago with both of those young men. those points of contact when they were children that are being missed. when you look at the history of this latest killer in the mass shooting, things were missed or ignored or poorly handled all along. what about the 62-year-old man who shot up the brooklyn subway train a couple of months ago? he said, you know, they didn t help me. i had mental health problems and the system let me down. do you remember when he said that? there are so many things in
