The Court said though Section 498-A of IPC was bought with a salutatory object of curbing the evil of dowry, the provision was being heavily misapplied by women to settle scores with their husbands.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to entertain a PIL seeking directions to the Central government to constitute a ‘legal education commission’ to ascertain the feasibility of having a four-year LL.B course.
The accused had been granted bail by the High Court in July 2022. However, the Supreme Court later set aside the bail orders and observed that the seriousness of the offence had not been considered by the High Court.
