The beach has been posted and this advisory will remain in effect until water sample results no longer exceed the threshold level of 130 enterococci per 100 mL
The public is advised of a water quality exceedance of enterococci at Ulua Beach, Maui. Levels of 137 per 100 mL have been detected during routine beach monitoring.
The Surfrider Foundation’s Blue Water Task Force program had two important additions this year, including a new lab site at Pāʻia Youth and Cultural Center. In addition, Surfrider Maui partnered with community members from Hāna to collect water quality samples there for the first time.
Topping the list, for the second year in a row, is Wailuku Stream with 27% of samples exceeding health standards in 2022.
