As usual, here are our five questions about NXT tonight:
1) Is the Warrior of the Sun entering as the Genius of the Sky leaves?
Raquel González couldn’t even get through her first promo as NXT Women’s champion before the line formed for a title shot. We saw the debuting Franky Monet, Mercedes Martinez and Zoey Stark all tout their credentials. Those last two look headed to a feud themselves, while Le Wera Loca dogs González’s heels (see what I did there?).
One person who didn’t show up was former champ Io Shirai. Raquel shouted her out, which might be a sign the face turn Big Mami Cool flashed during her & Dakota Kai’s WWE Women’s Tag title match will stick this time. But combined with WWE promoting the “thank you” chant for Shirai after the Women’s title bout at

We open on WWE.com exclusive with some unnamed dork interviewing William Regal about Kevin Owens’ challenge for a ladder match against Finn Balor. Regal says that he doesn’t want to give him the match because he won’t bow down to his demands, but he’s spoken with Finn Balor and Balor wants the match. Regal puts over how dangerous the match is, which is awesome and missing from the main roster. He makes the match official for

Kenny Omega on the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch: “The idea itself is incredible. You touch the ropes and they explode.”
In the midst of yet another career-defining run, Kenny Omega is set to introduce a new match to AEW and, for that matter, to a large portion of the North American audience.
Omega defends the AEW Championship this Sunday the company’s first pay-per-view not on a Saturday at
Revolution against Jon Moxley in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch. The match, which was a staple of Japan’s Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling in the 1990s, features barbed wire taking the place of the ring ropes, with the added caveat of there being explosives in wires.
A Brief History of KENTA By akenson on Feb 13, 2021, 8:45pm EST 27
While reading the recap of the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite on this site, I noticed something I found strange in the article. The author mentioned that he wasn t very familiar with KENTA s work. I thought this was odd because I, as a mark for Japanese wrestling in general and KENTA s work in particular, thought he was much better-known in the west. When I asked the comment section if they, like the author, didn t know much about KENTA, it seemed they mostly also didn t know much. I decided to throw this Fanpost together quickly to give a brief history of KENTA s wrestling career and link to some of his classic matches to give people both context on him and a taste of his work.
Will The NXT Championship Be Defended at WrestleMania 37?
✖
Royal Rumble winner Edge recently made an appearance on NXT and teased the idea of using his world championship opportunity to challenge the winner of Finn Balor vs. Pete Dunne (taking place on Sunday at
NXT
TakeOver: Vengeance Day) at
WrestleMania 37. Triple H (Paul Levesque) hosted a media conference call for TakeOver on Thursday, and the call kicked off with a question about The Rated-R Superstar s challenge. The Game started off by saying Edge has been hitting him up for well over a year in regards to working on NXT, then said, I don t think any of it is beyond the realm of possibility. He then added that, regardless of which champion he winds up choosing, the door is open for the 11-time world champion to compete in NXT down the road.
