The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and state partners, is investigating seven human cases of Salmonella Kiambu infection potentially associated with pet food made by Mid America Pet Food.
The CDC issued a food safety alert after seven cases of salmonella, including one hospitalization, were recorded in seven states. The cases were linked to several types of pet food.
The FDA announced a recall of the Victor brand Hi-Pro Plus dry dog food linked to a salmonella outbreak. Several other brands of dry dog and cat food sold by Hi-Pro Plus’s manufacturer, Mid America Pet Food, are also under recall.
