GEA tail gas compression packages featuring GEA XH oil-flooded, single-stage screw compressors.
GEA Refrigeration Technologies (GEA) will supply GEA model XH compression packages for a tail gas application at a refinery in Azerbaijan. The screw compressor systems are designed for a modernization program at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery (HAOR) in Baku.
GEA’s tail gas packages were selected for the project by Honeywell UOP as part of its Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology to supply hydrogen for the modernization of the plant. Pure hydrogen is used to decontaminate oil and facilitate catalytic processes that produce clean-burning fuels, including those that meet Euro V standards for vehicle emissions.

Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. announces that its subsidiaries Tecnimont S.p.A. and KT - Kinetics Technology S.p.A. have signed with SOCARs subsidiary Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery two Engineering, Procurement and Construction contracts, as part of the Modernization and Reconstruction of Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery in Baku, Azerbaijan. State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR)s subsidiary Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery has signed two Engineering, Procurement and Construction contracts with Tecnimont S.p.A. and KT-Kinetics Technology S.p.A., the subsidiaries of Maire Tecnimont S.p.A., as a part of the Modernization and Reconstruction of SOCAR Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The overall contracts value equals to approximately USD 160 million.
SOCARs president Rovnag Abdullayev, Italian Ambassador in Azerbaijan H.E. Augusto Massari, Maire Tecnimont Chairman Fabrizio Di Amato and Maire Tecnimont Group CEO Pierroberto Folgiero, along with other SOCARs and Maire Tecnimonts senior officials have attended the signing ceremony.
