Florida has very little oil production of its own (0.1% of all domestic oil is harvested here) and no refiners – or pipelines. This means all gas used in Florida is refined out-of-state and must be transported into our state.
The all-time US inflation adjusted price for gas – going back over 100 years is $2.82 per gallon. Anytime we hit above that level, that cost of gas begins to have an outsized impact on our lives.
