An executive at one of the world s largest tobacco companies has said law enforcement in the Commonwealth should be focusing on counterfeit cigarettes.
In Pennsylvania, about 13% of all tobacco products are counterfeited and sold illegally that amounts to roughly $178 million in revenue that the state can t tax. Northeast Pennsylvania s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia, along with the many major roadways that intersect it, makes the region particularly vulnerable to illegal trade, said Hernan Albamonte, head of Philip Morris International s illicit trade prevention in the U.S.
