Photo: Mitzi Buys GREYTON – After calling the town their home for 16 years, the much loved Dr Jens Kargaard and his wife Jill said their goodbyes to friends and villagers on Friday 9 March, a few days before departing for Denmark, where they intend to settle. Kargaard was born in Denmark, but grew up in Kenya, where his parents farmed. Before independence they were “kicked out” and lost everything. The family then moved to Australia, where his parents farmed for a while, but their longing for Africa brought them to South Africa, where Kargaard completed his schooling in Cape Town.

Hermanus Times received a call for help from the Western Cape Department of Health in the Overberg, after Sinazo Madlalisa from Grabouw gave birth to three healthy boys, after expecting only one child. In turn, Hermanus Times reached out to birth practitioner Debby Engelbrecht from Hermanus, who canvased her network for donations.
