The Huxley Public Library is nearing its fundraising goal to build and maintain a StoryWalk along the Heart of Iowa Trail through the town’s Railroad Park.
A StoryWalk is a series of permanent signs that house pages of books, which can easily be swapped out. Over the course of a quarter mile or so, people can read the entire story.
Director of Library Services Cathy Van Maanen said StoryWalks have been popping up in parks all across the United States.
“It just seemed really obvious for the library to go outside its four walls and add this to the community,” she said. “The Heart of Iowa Trail is now fully paved through town and it is well-traveled.”
