Waterford Treasures has been awarded Full Accreditation status in the Heritage Council Museum Standards Programme for Ireland.
The programme, which began in 2007, benchmarks and promotes professional standards in museums all over Ireland, assessing a museum over seven categories from governance and management to visitor services and education and access. Waterford Treasures was among the first museums to gain Full Accreditation in 2010 and has retained it ever since.
Chairman of the Heritage Council Michael Parsons said: “This programme is the gold standard for Irish museums, taking approximately five years to achieve full accreditation.” Eamonn McEneaney, Director of Waterford Treasures added: “It’s fantastic to retain Full Accreditation for our award-winning Bishop’s Palace and Medieval Museum.
