Rain Lounge, one of Central New York’s best known gay bars, is closing for good after struggling to keep afloat during the Covid 19 pandemic. Owner Duke Epolito announced the decision Thursday on social media, prompting outpourings of support from long-time fans of the 20-year-old club. “Thank you for everything,” one commenter posted after seeing the news. “Rain always felt like home. So much love.”

A big snowstorm in Syracuse and Central New York could mean a total disruption of normal life, often for days. This was especially true for folks who had to go to work, to the store or anywhere for that matter. The photo above of cars stuck in snow in the city above is from a storm which dumped 20.7 inches on Syracuse between Feb. 14 and 15, 1960. More than 18 inches fell on one day, setting a single one-day for a 24-hour snowfall in February.

Syracuse Christmas Bureau Distribution Begins Wednesday

Dec 16, 2020 The Salvation Army s Christmas Bureau distribution begins Wednesday at 10 in Downtown Syracuse- and traffic in the area may become heavy at times. Syracuse Police say that Herald Place between Salina and Clinton Streets will be closed. Anyone who is looking to attend the event is asked to enter the site from N Salina St. All other drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
