Mayor s Office says 8 more city residents have died WCVB and Herald News Staff BOSTON The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported an additional 1,928 confirmed COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 545,624 since the start of the pandemic. Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan s office said in a release on Thursday that there have been 131 new cases in the city since last week. Eight more Fall River residents have also died of COVID in the last week. There have been 12,184 cases in the city since the pandemic began, and 316 people have died. State health officials also added 33 confirmed COVID-19-related deaths to the state s total, which is now 15,657.
