Agency established in 1914 by the federal trade commission act. The ftc is chiefly responsible from protecting consumers from unfair, deceptive or fraudulent Business Practices in the marketplace. This includes protecting business privacy and the security of their data from any harmful uses of technology and combating deceptive advertising and illegal robo calls among other issues. The ftc is also responsible educating consumers about predatory Business Practices.
