US skier Mikaela Shiffrin didn't medal in the super-G at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, but she shared this positive and inspiring message to her supporters.
<p>Julia Marino's silver medal in the women's slopestyle earns the U.S. its first medal of the 2022 <a class='ath autolink' href='https://theathletic.com/olympics/'>Olympics</a>. </p><p></p><p>Zoi Sadowski-Synnott took home the gold medal over Marino, and made history in doing so. The 20-year-old became New Zealand’s first Winter Olympic gold medalist. Tess Coady won bronze for Australia.</p><p></p><p>Marino was in the lead after an impressive second run, scoring a 87.68. She won gold in this event in Pyeongchang and was a silver medalist at the 2021 world championships. </p><p></p><p>Red Gerard is on a mission to win back-to-back gold medals in the men's snowboard slopestyle.</p><p></p><p>Bryce Bennett, Ryan Cochran-Siegle and Travis Ganong are the top U.S. hopes in the men's downhill. Bennett won a <a class='ath autolink' href='https://theathletic.com/world-cup/'>World Cup</a> downhill event in December.
