A NEWTOWN man has been spared an immediate jail sentence despite repeatedly threatening to stab police officers and headbutting one. A Dyfed Powys Police firearms unit had to be called in to deal with Christopher Francis who, while in possession of three knives, made stabbing motions towards officers before he collapsed to the floor and was found to be foaming at the mouth. Caernarfon Crown Court heard Francis, 30, broke into a property near Garth Owen Stores in Newtown late at night on August 16, 2020, where he took hold of a quantity of knives. When police arrived he threatened to “slice them open”, “shank the lot of them” and said he would set fire to their homes.
