Santa Fe County to open Behavioral Crisis Center
.... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... Work continues on the Santa Fe Community Service Department’s crisis center in Santa Fe. (Eddie Moore/Albuquerque Journal) Copyright © 2021 Albuquerque Journal The Santa Fe Behavioral Crisis Center got one step closer to completion when Santa Fe County commissioners last week voted to approve the lease for service providers at the center. This is the first time the county will have a crisis center. The center will have two parts – its existing detoxification and sobering center run by the Santa Fe Recovery Center, and its mental health services run by New Mexico Solutions. Funding for the center was approved by commissioners about a year ago under a $2 million bond.

Embattled coalition up against challenges
Copyright © 2021 Albuquerque Journal The beleaguered Regional Coalition of LANL Communities (RCLC) has been without an executive director for six months, and nobody seems to want the job. The Joint Powers Agreement that formalizes its mutual efforts in support of environmental remediation and economic development efforts at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has been lingering for nearly two years. None of the nine communities that make up the coalition is stepping up to serve as fiscal agent for the group, frequently referred to as the RCLC. And its primary funding source dried up three years ago due to compliancy issues with a federal grant.

Funding provided for Pojoaque water system
Copyright © 2021 Albuquerque Journal SANTA FE – There is now enough funding to complete the first phase of the Aamodt settlement agreement water infrastructure in the Pojoaque Basin due to an additional $137 million in the federal omnibus spending bill signed into law by President Trump last month. Workers construct what will be the bottom of a collection well on San Ildefonso Pueblo that is part of the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System Project. Funding for the project was recently authorized in the federal omnibus spending bill. (Eddie Moore/Albuquerque Journal) The key piece in the decades-long litigation over water rights in the area is the construction of the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System. In addition to increased funding, the bill extended the “substantial” completion date of the project by four years to 2028.

Reviving the past
.... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... .... The newly renovated Santa Fe County Administration Building now features the courtyard that was part of the original building. (Eddie Moore/Albuquerque Journal) Copyright © 2021 Albuquerque Journal Nearly 82 years after it was built, the Santa Fe County Administration Building has been renovated to restore some of the original design elements of renowned Santa Fe architect John Gaw Meem. The renovation took about a year to complete, and county staff was able to move into offices at the building at 102 Grant Avenue in October. While some county departments moved into the new county administration building just up the street, offices for the county manager, attorney and commissioners are housed in the newly renovated building.
