Even with the added threats while on the job, Gould said the men and women in uniform still perform their duties, not once wavering from oaths or obligations. He added law enforcement is a higher calling for those who take the oath to protect and serve.

Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch read off a list of those who died while protecting the Hopkinsville and Christian County community.
Christian County Fiscal Court met Tuesday via GoToMeeting for a regular meeting to get updates from the Christian County Animal Shelter and vote on a reappointment to the Solid Waste Authority Board.
During business, the court unanimously approved expenditures for the road and bridge fund, jail fund, LGEA fund, E-911 and health insurance.
The approved jail fund provides $1,080 for a total of 47.5 approved overtime hours in January.
In other court action, the court reappointed Henry Gould to the Solid Waste Authority Board for another four year term.

Christian Fiscal Court heard several reports during a relatively routine virtual meeting Tuesday morning.
Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace says 180 cats and dogs were accepted and 243 found homes in December. She says the shelter has resumed accepting owner releases again, but it’s by appointment only.

Yet another highhanded jeremiad from Minneapolis City Council Member Jeremiah Ellison on the Opinion Exchange page (“Conventional wisdom has produced chaos,” Dec. 3). He is always ready to distinguish himself, together with his subgroup of council colleagues from the mayor, from the chief of police, often from the dissenting majority of the council.
