Unionism, Not Amazonism | Opinion On 5/20/21 at 8:00 AM EDT
Nearly 85 years ago, a group of United Auto Workers members gathered on an overpass just outside of the Ford Motor Company s massive plant in Dearborn, Michigan. Their demands were simple. They wanted the notoriously anti-union Henry Ford to provide employees with better wages, reasonable hours and decent working conditions.
As the organizers handed out leaflets emblazoned with the slogan, Unionism, Not Fordism, men from Ford s Service Department (an internal security force) violently attacked them in what later became known as The Battle of the Overpass. Ford won the battle the union stopped distributing pamphlets but lost the movement. Journalists on the scene captured the truth, prompting severe public and congressional backlash against Ford, and increased support for the UAW. Ultimately, Henry Ford relented and signed a contract with the union.
Hi Howard,
I will do that at some point; it’s just finding the time! We usually tend to travel around the UK frequently, and have our year more or less planned out by January, but with the Covid problems it’s all been squashed up into about six months. Also, we both do the cooking weeks about (it’s me this week) so there’s that.
I’m still finding my way around the website here – they are all different, so you’ll have to bear with me. I don’t do Zoom – I have my reasons.
Mike,

Many thanks for the helpful answers.
To answer Nick, the only part of the vehicle would be the battery box at the front and I need most of that for a or some batteries. It will be worth seeing how much space is left though.
I have determined that the original bell would be the sort used as a fire bell in or on buildings or a school bell.
A remote door bell would not be suitable as it needs to work from a push button on the end of the steering tiller.
