The Henry and Stark County Health Department and the Henry County Office of Emergency Management announce they will open a “Phone In” Registration for the COVID-19 Vaccination Series.
Those eligible to participate in this Phone-In registration are any Henry and Stark County residents age 65 and over who truly have no internet access. The number of appointments is limited and will be given out on a first come, first served basis. To register please call the Health Department at (309) 852-7242 Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

As millions of dollars in repairs from recent floods along the Rock River flood plain continue to be made, emergency officials there already are looking to spring precipitation forecasts and hoping for the best.
So far, meteorological predictions for winter melt and spring rains aren t calling for historically wild swings, but they aren t calling for a drought either. As of right now, most of our planning is based on the spring hydraulic outlook, said Henry County Office of Emergency Management Director Mat Schnepple, and it s saying there are equal chances of moderate flooding.”

The Henry and Stark County Health Department and the Henry County Office of Emergency Management is alerting area residents that they have received initial shipments of Covid-19 vaccine as of late December; and having been following Federal and State guidelines in offering it to Tier 1a distribution groups. They are now pleased to announce that they will now begin rolling it out to 1b recipient groups.
Tier 1a recipients included health care workers and long-term care residents. In accordance with the federal guidance the first to receive Covid-19 vaccinations were hospital and inpatient hospital workers at the County’s two Hospitals: Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo and St. Luke’s Medical Center, Kewanee. Local restaurants continue ignoring state s rules

On Nov. 20, all 11 regions of Illinois moved into Tier 3 Mitigation measures that banned inside dining and service, but several Kewanee bars and restaurants apparently didn t get the memo.
Through eyewitness inspection Tuesday it was determined that Kewanee patrons are dining inside at several local restaurants and bellying up to the bar at several local taverns, a practice that is not allowed under the current resurgence plan.
Some of the locations currently serving customers already have been cited or temporarily shut down for breaking rules, and many of them have obtained grants and loans meant to help them through closure orders, but which carry stipulations that require them to follow applicable restrictions.
