Rescue squads around the region are suffering from lack of volunteer support, and now, faced with funding reductions, some are considering possible closure.
Thanks to special funding, a course leading to Virginia Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification will be made available locally, free of charge. The Henry County Department of Public Safety (HCDPS) will be offering a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) course beginning March 5 through July 30 for anyone interested in volunteering for a local rescue squad.
