Renowned Portland artist Henk Pander has passed away at age 85. His death was announced on his Facebook page on Friday, April 7. He had been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer.
Pander experimented with many mediums, including ink and watercolor, but oil paintings make up the majority of his work. He gained recognition for his vivid, often captivating and sometimes terrifying, depictions of historical events.
