State capture commission adjourns early over Anoj Singh s health concerns

State capture commission adjourns early over Anoj Singh’s health concerns By Kailene Pillay Share Proceedings at the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture had to be adjourned early yesterday as the legal team representing former Transnet chief financial officer Anoj Singh were concerned about his health. Singh, who has been testifying since Thursday about his movements during his tenure at Transnet, is no stranger to the commission. At about 3.30pm, Singh s lawyer, advocate Anneline van den Heever, asked the commission for a short adjournment, raising Singh s health as a concern. Eventually, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo adjourned proceedings for the day.

Zondo commission undeterred by burglary; when state capture became more real for Parliament speaker

Zondo commission undeterred by burglary; when state capture became ’more real’ for Parliament speaker By Kailene Pillay Share The week started with news of a break-in at the Zondo commission offices and Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo warning that they would not be deterred or intimidated. National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise was the first to give evidence. Modise apologised to South Africans after admitting that Parliament only “woke up when things were really bad”. She said it was the Constitutional Court’s ruling on upgrades at former President Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla homestead and the ’’Gupta leaks’’ – a series of emails linking ministers with state capture – that made the allegations of state capture “more real”.
