KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 26): The main index at Bursa Malaysia pared some of its loss at the midday break Friday, against the backdrop of skidding regional markets, while technology-related stocks on Bursa Malaysia came under selling pressure.
The fate of technology stocks mirrored the overnight performance at Wall Street where tech darlings all suffered, with Apple Inc, Tesla Inc, Amazon.com Inc, NVIDIA Corp and Microsoft Corp the biggest drags.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was down 3.78 points to 1,577.76. The index had earlier slipped to a low of 1,577.53.
Market breadth was negative with 617 losers and 202 gainers, while 716 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 6.04 billion shares valued at RM3.29 billion.
At 9.05am, the FBM KLCI rose 8.83 points to 1,566.38.
The early gainers included Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, D&O Green Technologies Bhd, Uchi Technology Bhd, Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd, Inari Amertron Bhd, Allianz Malaysia Bhd,
Frontken Corp Bhd, Genetec Technology Bhd and DSB-Hicom Bhd.
Bloomberg said Asian stocks and U.S. futures rose Thursday after a rebound in the S&P 500 on encouraging vaccine news and soothing comments on inflation from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
Treasury yields were steady, it said.
JF Apex Research said US markets surged overnight with the Dow hitting a record high as bond yields came off their highs after the Federal Reserve chairman downplayed the threat of inflation.
KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): The main index at Bursa Malaysia pared some of its gains at mid-morning today, as regional markets dipped.
At 10.10am, the FBM KLCI was up 4.51 points to 1,574.97. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,580.68.
Gainers led losers by 455 to 392, while 444 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.62 billion shares valued at RM1.49 billion.
The top gainer was newly-listed Mobilia Holdings Bhd, Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Bhd, Pimpinan Ehsan Bhd, Heineken Malaysia Bhd, Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd, Petronas Gas Bhd, Industronics Bhd, Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd and Padini Holdings Bhd.
The actively traded stocks included AirAsia X Bhd, Mobilia, DGB Asia Bhd, Dynaciate Group Bhd, AirAsia Group Bhd, Velesto Energy Bhd, Key Alliance Group Bhd and Hubline Bhd.
KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): The main index at Bursa Malaysia gained 0.34% in early trade Tuesday on bargain hunting, while home furniture manufacturer Mobilia Holdings Bhd made an impressive start on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia and was both the most actively traded and top gaining stock in early trade.
At 9.05am, the FBM KLCI gained 5.32 points to 1,575.78.
The early gainers included Mobilia, Khind Bhd, Pimpinan Ehsan Bhd, Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd, Petronas Gas Bhd, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd, PPB Group Bhd, Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Bhd and Heineken Malaysia Bhd.
Meanwhile, Mobilia rose 51.5 sen to 74.5 sen with 80.32 million shares traded.
KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 22): The main index of Bursa Malaysia reversed its loss and ticked higher in the mid-morning today, tracking regional markets, but gains were seen limited.
At 10am, the FBM KLCI had added 0.18 points to 1,585.11. The index earlier slipped to a low of 1,585.54.
Gainers led losers by 541 to 441, while 367 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.95 billion shares valued at RM1.39 billion.
The gainers included Heineken Malaysia Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, Pimpinan Ehsan Bhd, Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd, Kobay Technology Bhd, KESM Industries Bhd and Petronas Gas Bhd (PetGas).
The actively traded stocks included Key Alliance Group Bhd, Nexgram Holdings Bhd, Mestron Holdings Bhd, Dolphin International Bhd, AT Systematization Bhd, EA Holdings Bhd and Sapura Energy Bhd.
