Part of a $1.8 million project aimed at updating several aspects of Hempfield Park is set to debut this weekend. A new off-leash dog park will open Saturday following a grand opening ceremony, according to Aaron Siko, director of parks and recreation with the township. The dog park consists of four runs, two for large dogs and two for small dogs. The park, located near the ball fields, was funded by the Land & Water Conservation Fund provided by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources as well as through fundraising.
