Surprised and delighted by an MBE A HELSTON man said he was surprised and delighted to be awarded the MBE in the New Year Honours List. CPO Air Engineering Artificer (M) Michael Barnard was on duty at RNAS Culdrose on Saturday when he was given a letter containing the good news. Mr Barnard, 41, of Pendeen Parc, said: I never expected it - I was not told in the letter why, but assume it is for my services whilst in the ?Royal Navy. Born in Tavistock, Mr Barnard joined the Royal Navy in 1970 and trained at HMS Ganges, Ipswich.
