An angle grinder is thought to have caused a fire at a garage yesterday. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Malton and Scarborough were called to the incident in Helperthorpe, near Malton, at around 3.10pm. A spokesperson said: “The fire was caused by sparks from an angle grinder. “A number of vehicles in the garage had been removed by the occupants and were undamaged by the fire. “Crews used two hose reels, thermal imaging camera, small tools, breathing apparatus and triple extension ladder.”
Expanding pig product company moves to new home BOOMING business at natural pig product specialist, ProVet UK, has prompted the 18-month old company to move from Helperthorpe, near Malton, to a larger 10,000 sq ft complex on the Pocklington industrial estate. The two-storey building is equipped with three laboratories, including one for analytical microbiology. A manufacturing plant used to make high-quality human health products will also be used to blend milk and colostrum products to provide antibodies for farm animals. It is the latest stage in a rapid expansion for the company, which now employs 15 people in the UK plus 16 more in new offices recently established in Brazil and Holland. It is also actively pursuing other world markets, including Japan, Thailand and the Phillippines.
