101 WWII Bombs Removed From Residential Area

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has removed 101unexploded ordnance (UXOs) at Gilbert Camp in Honiara in a two days operation.
Officer-in-charge (OIC) EOD Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “EOD operators have unearthed 101 UXOs after we received the report from the community. The UXOs are safely stored at Hells Points for render safe.”

Police said the tragic incident involving four young people happened on Sunday at Lengakiki in Central Honiara, the country s capital.
The group had built a woodfire to cook food for a fundraiser unaware that buried directly underneath was a 105mm high explosive US projectile left over from the war.
