Tuxedo was mauled to death on January 13 after reportedly being knocked out of a tree by the owners of two dogs which were then set on the cat
A petition calling on the NYPD to arrest the dogs owners for animal cruelty has gained more than 17,500 signatures from around the world
The NYPD said their investigation is active and ongoing
