very definitely, because jimmy carter didn t seem to know what was going on or what to do to solve the problem. our present president doesn t seem to get it. he doesn t understand that some of the things he s introducing that many of us call raw socialism, it s a different name, but it s essentially government controlled and government domination of everything, and he sees that as a panacea, but instead it s like a work against our country and bring us closer to the apocalypse. mike: dr. beverly, you started one of the largest organizations, largest grass rats organization and a rather credible source had to to say about you. i want to roll the tape. just a few short years you ve become the largest politically active women s organization in the nation. [applause] a lot of the credit of course has to go to one woman, she s one of the powerhouses on the political scene today and one of the reasons that the grass roots or more and more a conservative province.

okay, let s talk about the national debt. it s clearly out of control. we had the third largest single day increase ever, more debt in one day than we had in all of the year 2007. so, elliss, i m going to give you the first chance to talk about it. tell me why the debt under obama is a good thing here? governor, debt is not an inherently bad thing. when you have a house mortgage, didn t that allow you to do things higher than my income. i bet your house mortgage was more than you made in a year and probably the best thing you and your wife ever did. mike: one thing to have debt you can pay for. right now the united states is letting their percentage of the gdp in debt go to a point that in a few years it s going to be more than 110%. we re going to be like greece. if we continue on the track. caroline, you want to get in on the debt issue. we won t go to greece because i disagree with you about that, but what i agree with you about, is this notion that our debt is an issue
[applause] beverly lahaye is changing the face of american politics and she deserves our thanks and congratulations. mike: now, that s a pretty good affirmation, i think, from president reagan. you were involved in a way in which at that time women and more specifically, conservative women, were not that involved, particularly women who may have thought, well, that s just going i don t want to get involved in. are you seeing a real resurgence of conservative women this year and overall in the climate involved? very, very definitely, yes. when we started in 1979 our christian movement didn t have a voice in america. today we ve got many women who are in office, both federal, state, low cal and many women n running for office and there s been a deficit change and women are able to speak up for family values that they believe in.
