Farmers and dogs protest
Rodney farmers and tradies, together with their dogs and utes, will converge on Orewa for a “howl of a protest” this Friday, July 16.
The protest has been sparked by the Government’s tax on utility vehicles, but is also highlighting a number of hotbed issues, including freshwater policy, significant natural areas (SNAs), policy on indigenous biodiversity, MIQ rules for seasonal workers, climate change policy and the Crown pastoral land reform bill.
Organiser Mick Smith is calling on north Rodney protesters to meet at either the Warkworth Showgrounds or Helensville Museum at 11am for a noon departure in convoy to Orewa.
