Sophia Dervis

July 24, 2021 86 LITCHFIELD – Sophia (Tina) Ramondetta Dervis, 90, of 2 Dickinson Court, Litchfield, Conn., died on July 21, 2021. Mrs. Dervis was born in Southington on Feb. 13, 1931, daughter of Louis and Catherine Ramondetta. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard L. Dervis. She was a member of the Bethlehem Friends of the Library, and belonged to the Connecticut Association of Retired Teachers. She graduated from Connecticut State Teachers College in 1952 with a BS degree, and went on to obtain a master’s degree and sixth-year certificate from Southern Connecticut University. Mrs. Dervis taught school for 40 years, retiring in 1992 from Swift Junior High School in Watertown. She began her teaching career at Southington High School and taught high school English at Thomaston and Litchfield High Schools. She was an adjunct professor at Mattatuck Community College in the Humanities Department.
