A power surge went across the city as a tower collapsed. Pg e says Construction Equipment struck a large electrical tower around 9 30 and effects are being felt all around the bay area. A little electrical surge there. Tonights giantscardinals game, seth manis reacted to a power surge. The fans then saw the scoreboard go out forta moment. Several abc7 viewers snapped pictures of the tower at 101 and broadway. It caused the power lines to snap and spread across the highway and backing up traffic for miles. Its been 10 1 2 hours and now the chp tells us highway 101 is still closed in both directions and will remain that way until 5 00 this evening. A crane smashed into a pg e electrical tower overnight at a construction site. Leaving live wires on the roadways and causing a massive traffic backup.
