PHILADELPHIA, PA The full schedule is still hours away from being announced, but the Eagles already know who they re playing for their opening week matchup: the Atlanta Falcons.
The NFL chose to release the week one matchup ahead of the full release of the schedule Wednesday night. The opener will be held in Atlanta at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12, as the new look Eagles without Super Bowl head coach Doug Peterson or former franchise quarterback Carson Wentz look to turn the page on 2020 s last place finish.

The Eagles were aggressive in their pursuit of Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith.
Philadelphia traded the 12th (1st) and 84th (3rd) overall picks to the Dallas Cowboys their NFC East rivals to jump the Giants and select the Heisman Trophy-winner with the 10th overall pick on Thursday.

During the past couple of days, both NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco and The Athletic’s David Lombardi have written articles about Dee Ford’s contract situation in short, it’s complicated.
But Ford has an injury guarantee written into his contract. If he remains on the 49ers’ roster on April 1, $11.6 million of his base salary becomes fully guaranteed.
Exactly how the 49ers plan to handle the situation is not known, as the club looks to trim costs in order to afford re-signing such free agents as left tackle Trent Williams, cornerback Jason Verrett and fullback Kyle Juszczyk.
