Cape Town - A youth leader in Heinz Park is appealing to the public to help him realise his goal of becoming a paramedic.
Tashreeq Perry has become popular in his community through assisting in emergency births, and has gained a reputation among pregnant women.
Perry has assisted four families, including his own, and said his love for helping others is what keeps him going, even without support.
“I dropped out of school in Grade 8. At the time I felt like I had no other choice. My parents had just divorced and my mom was in need of help raising my younger siblings, and as the eldest the responsibility fell on my shoulders.

According to police, the nine people entered the bottle store in William Dabbs Road on Tuesday afternoon and pretended to be customers.
One allegedly drew a firearm, aimed it at the cashier and demanded money while the others allegedly stole cigarettes and liquor.
They fled in a white Mazda Bantam LDV and a grey VW Golf in the direction of Kraaifontein, police spokesperson, Captain FC Van Wyk, said in a statement.

Cape Town - Police in Cape Town have arrested nine suspected liquor robbers.
In a statement released on Wednesday, provincial police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said the suspects were apprehended by members of the Kraaifontein South African Police Service (SAPS).
He said the officers received information from Brackenfell SAPS that seven suspects had robbed a liquor store in William Dabbs Road in Brackenfell at 5pm on Tuesday.
“According to information, the suspects entered the store, pretending to be customers, but one of the suspects then pointed a firearm at the cashier, demanding money, while the other suspects took cigarettes and liquor.
They allegedly took money, cigarettes and booze before fleeing in two vehicles.
They were arrested at a shebeen.
