at a real solution, at a bipartisan solution, at a compromise solution. giant crises, national crises, like health care, like immigration, require that bad c word compromise, require getting minds, getting the top minds on both parties to come in and bring their different angles to the table. one party solutions are rarely the ones that work with something so major as health care. john? she s right. i bring joe manchin into the room right now and i would put him at the table and i would try to get his vote. the governor in the state of west virginia just switched parties from democrat to republican. it s a state that donald trump won overwhelmingly. and right now, people like joe manchin and heidi hide camp in north dakota are feeling the heat because they don t want to sign on to single payer health care the direction their party is going in. i would involve those people as much as humanly possible. they ve been in talks, meetings, meals, on the plane,
he wants to try to lower the corporate tax rate. he wants to lower the income tax rate for individuals, and he s coming here to north dakota to try to make his pitch for bipartisan support. he s touting the fact that senator hide camp, he s up for a tough re-election in career in this state which trumped carried by 36 percentage points. she flew with the president on air force one and he s going to try to signal that that s some sort of endorsement for his tax plan. there s nothing to endorse yet. so we ll have to see and let congress introduce a bill. kimberly, bringing heidi hide camp with him is interesting. just the other day last week when he was going to missouri, he went out there and he attacked the missouri senator down there, claire mccaskill. this is a change of tactics and it s funny in a state like north dakota which he won by 36 points. and, yes, and i think that s why we re seeing this tactic. i mean, heidi hide camp is a
going to cross that 0-vote threshold. how does that happen? what i would say to that is democrats have offered to come forward on this. you look at joe manchin yesterday. for months he s been saying let us in at the table, into the negotiating room. so is claire mccaskill and heidi hide camp. and the republicans haven t done it. sure, you see people like president trump shedding crocodile tears saying the democrats are obstructionist you think chuck schumer says let s get together, you believe him. i do believe him because we need to fix obamacare. we do need to fix it. and even though the republicans politically own it right now, it is incumbent upon us to make sure there s more competition. what does the president do in all this? i had people when i was on the hill last week suggest to me he doesn t even understand really what s in this bill. one person suggested to me he didn t understand the difference between medicare and medicaid. that might be considered a problem. b
senate seats and i think we lost the presidency. manu, just to clarify, did he say that the russians were coordinating with the trump campaign? he absolutely did, jake, and i asked him for specific evidence of that and he would not go there. all he would say is, well, it was in press reports. i said what press reports, and he wouldn t cite anything in particular, but this was harry reid defiant until the end, not showing any regret whatsoever for the losses in november. i also talked about some of his colleagues who were up for consideration for the white house post including joe manchin, the west virginia democrat who he took a swipe at and said he actually seems to be campaigning for the job and he does not think the heidi hide camp would take a job with donald trump. one person he said will have a hard time getting confirmed, rex tillerson. but as we know, harry reid will not have a vote next year.
trying they are afraid the united states is trying to sell them out to the iranians. they think the united states is looking to cut a deal with the iranians in which by which the united states would basically be able to kind of turn things over to the iranians and let the iranians run the middle east the way we did under the shaw back before the iranian revolution. so when the u.s. congress comes out and issues this letter basically saying we don t support the president, they are not quite sure what to make of it. is this a sign there is a part of the u.s. government trying to fight back against this conspiracy deal or they don t know what to make of it. i don t think this country doesn t know what to make of it either. and you hit on this. the president s problem with congress is not just with republicans or this letter but with the number of democrats that have real concerns over the deal. heidi hide camp is one of the people and spoke with politico
