U.S. District Judge George L. Russell sentenced Fletcher Dorsett, age 53, of Salisbury, Maryland to 150 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for a series of nine bank robberies and attempted robberies. Dorsett continued to commit robberies while on escape status from a halfway house after his release for a previous federal bank robbery conviction.
The sentence was announced by Acting United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Jonathan F. Lenzner; Acting Special Agent in Charge Rachel Byrd of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Baltimore Field Office. Chief Melissa R. Hyatt of the Baltimore County Police Department; Commissioner Michael Harrison of the Baltimore Police Department; Chief Edward Jackson of the Annapolis Police Department; Interim Chief Hector Velez of the Prince George’s County Police Department; and Chief Robert J. Contee, III of the Metropolitan Police Department.
A grand jury on Tuesday indicted a suspended Prince George’s County Police Officer on a first degree assault charge. Corporal Darryl Wormuth is also charged with second degree assault and misconduct in office. Wormuth is accused of assaulting a teenager after he was taken into custody on October 20, 2020, in Suitland.

A Prince George s County police officer has been indicted after he allegedly attacked a Black teenager who was in handcuffs.
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - A Prince George s County police officer - once hailed a hero - is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted a handcuffed teen during an incident last fall.
At a press conference Wednesday, Prince George s County State s Attorney Aisha Braveboy said Cpl. Darryl Wormuth was indicted and charged with first and second degree assault and misconduct in office after he allegedly grabbed a 17-year-old Black male who was in handcuffs by the neck and assaulted him.

A Prince George’s County police officer was indicted Tuesday after allegedly assaulting a Black 17-year-old boy he took into custody last fall.
Cpl. Darryl Wormuth was indicted on a first-degree assault charge. He also is charged with second-degree assault and misconduct in office, the department said Wednesday. He was suspended without pay.
