The Shasta County Sheriff s Office is urging the public to prepare for the possibility of severe winter weather this week.
Citing the National Weather Service, the sheriff s office said the strongest storms of the season are predicted to bring heavy rain and snow to Northern California.
It s not just the mountains with a chance for snow. NWS projects significant snow is possible at low elevations Tuesday into Wednesday.
Multiple inches of snowfall, up to a foot in some areas, are possible in the north Sacramento Valley, including Redding. Snow could dust areas as south as Red Bluff, according to NWS forecasts.
