Speaking at the event, Namibia s Health Minister Kalumbi Shangula said as part of this initiative, COVID-19 swabbing and testing stations will be established at various strategic locations along the country s national road network to provide services to tourists traveling in the country. Although the measures we have put in place have enabled us to avert the worst-case scenario in terms of the initial projections, the COVID-19 situation remains critical, he said.

2021-05-10 15:06:19 GMT2021-05-10 23:06:19(Beijing Time) Xinhua English WINDHOEK, May 10 (Xinhua) Namibia has managed to attract 23,997 tourists since the launch of the country s International Tourism Revival Initiative which commenced on September 1, 2020, Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, Heather Sibungo said Monday. The initiative was launched in a move to assist in the country s tourism recovery, which was hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Sibungo said Namibia recorded a decline of about 87 percent in international tourist arrivals in 2020 and a loss of over 1,000 jobs, with some establishments having closed completely, while others have not opened and some are gradually opening.

Walvis Bay ite in charge of Fisheries

Minister Klazen’sappointment is a subject of much pride for Walvis Bay residents. Those stakeholders consulted said Klazen hails from Walvis Bay, and as former mayor and resident of the town would understand local challenges better than predecessors. President Hage Gein-gob on Wednesday an-nounced a reshuffle of Ministers and Deputy Ministers. The Head of State is empowered to do so by virtue of Ar-ticle 32 (3)(i)(dd) of the Namibian Constitution.
