Entrances to Heaven: A Special Theatrical Event Director Nisi Sturgis and her theater company will present this early Tennessee Williams play inspired by the playwright’s fascination with one of Springfield’s native sons, poet Vachel Lindsay. A staged reading of the play premiered in March 2024 at the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival. Seating is limited. Reservations are recommended.

The play takes place in 1965, when an inebriated Tallulah Bankhead, well-known for her husky voice, outrageous personality and devastating wit, returns to the studio to redub — or loop — one line of dialogue for her last movie, Die! Die! My Darling! Written by Matthew Lombardo and produced by Springfield native Jacob Seidman.
