depot parking lot where the father in this case, justin ross harris, alleges to have forgotten his son cooper in those mere minutes, three minutes between getting breakfast and pulling into that parking spot at work. joining me now, cnn s victor blackwell, following this story from the very beginning. let s just start with the video we saw, those investigators. what exactly were they trying to do? first, we called the cobb county police department and asked what were you doing there? and they said it wasn t us. we handed the vehicle over to the district attorney s office and those are the d.a. s investigators in that parking lot doing the investigation for heat testing purposes. you saw the video there from waga, the station in atlanta. and they say that they drove through that parking lot to simulate the drive-in, even parked it in the same way in the same spot. as harris parked it three weeks prior. and then they started the heat testing. because essentially, this goes to the due d
a local atlanta tv station, waga, was rolling with their cameras as police drive justin ross harris car into his workplace, that home depot parking lot, to replicate the conditions inside that suv back in june. the last time this car was parked in this spot, it was on another 90-degree day. but prosecutors claim the temperature inside the car soared well above 100 degrees. joining me now, hln s jane velez-mitchell is following the story very, very closely. so jane, it s incredible to see these pictures, first of all, these investigators conducting these tests. how important will this heat testing be in making a case against this father? well, it s absolutely crucial, brooke. this child, prosecutors want to show, died a brutal death. this car became a torture chamber. they can t just say that, though. they have to back it up with scientific facts. so they take the actual car back
