Evacuation orders are in place along the coast. Reporter meridian bracing for dorian know this is the last chance to prepare. The monster storm has slowed as it creeps towards the u. S. Mainland after battling the bahamas as a category five and then 4 hurricane. Our garage door has come off floating in high water. Reporter the storm stalls over the bahamas unleashing damage described as catastrophic. Thousands of homes have been damaged or destroyed, dorian now setting its sights on americas Atlantic Coast but the unpredictability means forecasters are having trouble establishing its ultimate path. You cant see close tore south carolina. Right now, you can see the winds gusting 40 to 48 miles an hour. These numbers can be going up quite a bit over the next couple of hours as it slowly moves up to the north northeast. Right now moving at about eight Miles Per Hour. It is a category two storm. 1210 miles an hour. Here is the forecast track we see closer to North Carolina. And at least to the weekend. At least over the next 24 hours we can see impacts from the carolinas. Rainfall could be on the order of six to 12 inches and storm surge four to seven feet. It could cause quite a bit of damage on the property near the coastline of the carolinas. That is a lot of water being pushed physically being pushed by the wind on the properties there, and that could have a big impact, at least on the damage. Some of the properties in the shoreline.
