ST LUCIA RECORDS 57 NEW COVID-19 CASES; CDC ISSUES FRESH ADVISORIES

The Health Ministry in St Lucia has confirmed a further 57 new cases of COVID-19, taking the country’s case count to 713. All the new cases are St Lucian nationals ranging in age from 11 years to 71 years. They were all assessed and tested for the coronavirus at a community respiratory clinic. There are now 359 active cases in St Lucia, with one case requiring critical care and the others being stable. Meanwhile, St Lucia is among three countries and territories in the Caribbean for which the United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new travel advisories on Tuesday amidst rising COVID-19 infections. The CDC is urging US citizens to avoid all travel to St Lucia, Barbados and the Turks and Caicos Islands. All three have been placed in the CDC’s level four or “very high” risk category, with the CDC saying travel “may increase your risk of getting and spreading COVID-19.”
