The site was first unveiled in an announcement in early September, when Premier Scott Moe and then-Health Minister Jim Reiter were on hand along with MLA Duncan and several members of city council and the Hospital Foundation. Duncan said the Request for Proposals went out a couple of weeks ago for the major project, and they are due to be in to the government by this summer. The hospital is due to be constructed and open by 2023. The sign is located between Fifth Street and Hamilton Street on a 20-acre parcel purchased from the City of Weyburn, which is the new site for the new integrated 35-bed facility. The new facility will include a 10-bed inpatient mental health unit, and will also integrate the EMS ambulance service into its location.
“One Provincial Health Authority that is focused on better co-ordination of health services across the province will improve the quality of care patients receive,” Reiter said. “It will also reduce administration and duplication across the health system. This change represents a consolidation of administration, not a centralization of services. Our government remains committed to providing high-quality health services in every part of the province.” In a statement quoted by CBC, Danielle Chartier, the opposition NDP health critic, worried the move would mean “cuts to health care centres, cuts to frontline health care workers, and cuts to the care Saskatchewan people deserve.”

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and NDP leader Ryan Meili have both expressed their anger with comments made by a man during an anti-mask rally that were directed at provincial chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab.
A video taken by Global News shows the man purposely mispronouncing Shahab’s name before saying “I can’t get these foreigners names right.” After the comment was made, the crowd cheered.
Moe went to social media on Sunday to criticize the comments which he said were racist along with posting a video taken on the last day of the legislative session Thursday in which former health minister Jim Reiter praised Shahab for the work he has done since the pandemic started.
At the microphone, Bruce said, “I have a message for Scott Moe, and what’s that public health minister’s name? Shahaab? Shereeb? Shahorb? I can’t get these foreigners’ names right. Anyway, are you s g me?” he exclaimed, and then laughed.” Dr. Shahab is a civil servant, not a minister. Bruce continued, “I mean, this is ridiculous. Okay, this is a lie. This COVID-19 s is a lie. They have not isolated a gene. They haven’t isolated a germ. They haven’t identified what the scare is. It’s bulls . It’s total bulls ,” he said, before turning to a reporter behind and to the right of him and saying, “Oh, where’s CBC News here? You gonna get a good look? It’s bulls !
