Why is medical oxygen vital? Oxygen therapy is crucial for severe Covid-19 patients with hypoxaemia - when oxygen levels in the blood are too low. Some clinical studies show that up to a quarter of hospitalised (Covid-19) patients require oxygen therapy and upwards to two-thirds of those in intensive care units, community health specialist Rajib Dasgupta told AFP. This is why it is imperative to fix oxygen supply systems in hospital settings as this is a disease that affects lungs primarily.
Apple has begun rolling out iOS 14.3 and watchOS 7.2 for iPhones and Apple Watches respectively, and the updates are equipped with a new way to measure health metrics, specifically one’s cardio fitness levels. Users of Apple’s range of wearable smart watches can view their cardio fitness levels on the iPhone Health app.
Additionally, they’ll also be notified if their fitness levels fall below a particular threshold. This feature was first mentioned in September when Apple showcased the Apple Watch Series 6, but went under the radar until this latest software update.
The Apple Watch is fitted with a kit to measure cardiorespiratory fitness using VO2 max – the maximum amount of oxygen that the body is able to utilize during exercise. Previously, the only way the device could measure fitness levels was by estimating the average and high levels of VO2 max during the course of a strenuous workout.
