LAKEVIEW, Ore. – Nine people fighting the Bootleg Fire tested positive for COVID-19 according to Bootleg Fire officials. It’s unknown at the time if affected individuals are firefighters or other personnel working the fire. Currently there are more than 2,000 fire officials in different zones in Klamath and Lake counties. The outbreak will not cause any disruption to firefighting efforts on the massive fire. “There’s no effect to our operations on the fire,” Jamie Knight, Public Information Officer on the Bootleg fire, said. “We will still remain as effective and as engaged as we were prior to this announcement.”  Bootleg Fire managers sent out the following press release on the afternoon of Thursday, July 22:
