The number of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations is dropping as the state approaches 1 million Oklahomans vaccinated.But we still have work ahead of us.Just like much of the country, Oklahoma has seen great progress in the fight against COVID-19. One big thing to note is that since the state started vaccinations with older people, Oklahoma has seen that group in the hospital because of the virus much less.Overall, hospitalizations are dropping from a peak in January of nearly 2,000 to under 300 now. Cases have also dropped dramatically, with Oklahoma now reporting an average of 513 a day, which the state hasn’t seen since last July.Also, nearly a one-fourth of all Oklahomans have gotten at least one shot, putting the state ahead of most over states.Still, there are reasons for caution.
