Hawaii to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine Doses as Early as Next Week

Wikimedia Commons Hawaii is one step closer to relief from the COVID-19 virus. State officials said the state will receive 81,000 thousand doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in the month of December. The first shipment of about 4,800 vaccine doses will come to the islands from Pfizer as early as next week, following final FDA authorization. Governor David Ige explained that the state department of health is ready to start vaccine distribution as soon as possible as the Pfizer vaccine requires two doses 21 days apart. “Over the past few weeks with very limited information from federal authorities, the department has been fine tuning our state s vaccine plan and working with our counties, public and private health care providers and other stakeholders to prepare for receiving the first shipments of vaccine,” Ige said.
